Fresh off his third minor league championship in four seasons, Twins outfield prospect Max Kepler has earned his first big-league call-up.
Kepler, 22, should join the Twins in time for Tuesday's opening game of a key three-game series against the Cleveland Indians, the Twins announced Monday night.
Named this month to Baseball America's postseason minor league all-star team, Kepler hit .322 with 54 extra-base hits in 407 at-bats for Double-A Chattanooga this season. The Southern League most valuable player also walked more than he struck out (67-63) while posting a .947 combined on-base/slugging percentage and stealing 18 bases in 22 attempts.
