Twins prized rookie Byron Buxton will bat leadoff for the first time in his major league career on Monday night.
Buxton, who has three hits in 25 at bats, will start things off in the bottom of the first inning against Chicago White Sox left-hander John Dank.
"Glad they got faith in me to bat leadoff," Buxton said before the game.
Buxton, the preseason No. 1 prospect by MLB.com, has batted eight or ninth since being called up from Class AA on June 14.
Buxton registered his first hit at Target Field in the eighth inning of the Twins 8-0 loss Sunday to the Chicago Cubs.
