Minnesota Twins acquire lefty reliever Neal Cotts from Brewers

BALTIMORE -- Fortifying their bullpen for the stretch drive, the Twins acquired veteran left-handed reliever Neal Cotts from the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday.

The Twins will give up a player to be named for the 35-year-old Cotts, who is holding lefty batters to a .185 average and posting a 27 percent strikeout rate against them.

Cotts is making $3 million on a one-year deal. The Twins figure to be on the hook for the $721,000 that remains after claiming Cotts on revocable waivers and working out a deal.

The entire National League and roughly six American League teams had to pass on Cotts for him to reach the Twins in the August waiver pecking order.
