Miguel Sano's aim with Minnesota Twins: 'Never get sent down'

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Miguel Sano has seen other Twins prospects get called up to the majors only to be sent back down for additional seasoning.

Aaron Hicks. Oswaldo Arcia. Danny Santana. Kennys Vargas.

It has happened to all of them.

So upon his arrival Thursday at age 22, Sano made it clear he has no interest in seeing any more of Double-A Chattanooga or even Triple-A Rochester.

"This is the opportunity I wanted my whole life," Sano said. "I (will) try to stay here my whole career and never get sent down."

Sano was slotted right into the Twins' lineup for his big-league debut, batting sixth as the designated hitter against wily right-hander Chris Young of the Kansas City Royals.
