CHICAGO -- Twins first baseman Joe Mauer walked and singled in a run Sunday, extending his on-base streak to 33 games.
Incredibly, for a guy with a .395 career-on-base percentage, that's just two shy of his career-long, set from Sept. 11, 2009 to April 18, 2010.
This is already his longest on-base streak within a single season. The last time Mauer failed to reach base was Aug. 6 at Toronto.
"We spent a lot of time this year trying to analyze Joe's year," Twins manager Paul Molitor said. "I just think about what I feel he still does for our team on a daily basis.
