Gibson fans 8 over 6 scoreless innings in win

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Right-hander Kyle Gibson threw six scoreless innings and Trevor Plouffe hit a two-run single to help lead the Twins to a 3-0 win over the split-squad Pirates on Saturday at CenturyLink Sports Complex.

Gibson was sharp, striking out eight and scattering three hits in his second-to-last start of the spring to lower his ERA to 1.53. Gibson, who is lined up to be the club's No. 2 starter, is slated to start in the club's Grapefruit League finale against the Red Sox on Thursday.

Left-hander Kyle Lobstein, who is competing for a spot in Pittsburgh's bullpen, made the start for the Pirates, allowing two runs on three hits over four innings.
