MINNEAPOLIS -- Hall of Famer Rod Carew, who suffered a heart attack near his home in Southern California on Sept. 20, is feeling better and will attend TwinsFest at Target Field next weekend, the Twins announced Friday.
Carew has been a fixture at TwinsFest over the years, but after he suffered the heart attack, he had a left ventricular assist device surgically implanted to help maintain the pumping of his heart as he awaits a possible heart transplant. Carew is feeling good enough to attend the event, but he won't be able to sign autographs.
Carew will instead help announce a major initiative for the Twins next Saturday at 9:30 a.
