Ervin Santana strong in debut, but Twins still fall to Royals By Mike Berardino

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Ervin Santana had to wait three extra months to make his Twins debut on Sunday afternoon.

The veteran right-hander did all he could to make up for lost time.

Joining the Twins off an 80-game steroid suspension, Santana worked eight strong innings in an eventual 3-2 loss to the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium.

Eric Hosmer's double to right off Aaron Thompson scored Lorenzo Cain from first with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth. Cain drew a five-pitch walk from reliever Blaine Boyer (2-4) to start the ninth.
