As the St. Paul Saints' new CHS Field opens this week, proclaiming itself "the greenest ballpark in America," the folks at Target Field in Minneapolis are also making a run at that title.
The Twins organization is partnering with Boulder, Co.-based Eco-Products to replace its plastic beer cups, nacho trays, straws and other packaging with alternatives made out of compostable materials, the team announced Wednesday. Fans will now be able to deposit food packaging and leftovers into the same compostable bins.
Laura Day, executive vice president of business development for the Twins, called Target Field "the greenest ballpark in America" in a news release announcing the new partnership.
