NEW ORLEANS – No Anthony Davis and his 59 points and 20 rebounds and no problem, right?
Well, not exactly.
His New Orleans Pelicans played without him on Saturday against the Timberwolves and lost a 12-point lead and the game 112-110 when young Wolves star Andrew Wiggins made two free throws with 3.6 seconds left.
The Wolves beat New Orleans for the first time this season thanks to Karl-Anthony Towns 30-point,15-rebound game, Zach LaVine’s 25 points and Wiggins’ two winning throws, not to mention his 20-point night.
With Davis’ sidelined by a surprise foot injury, replacement starter Ryan Anderson scored 31 points and Eric Gordon returned to the New Orleans starting lineup by scoring the same in his first game back after 16 missing.
