CHARLOTTE, N.C. – As much as he’d like to, Wolves interim coach Sam Mitchell can’t play his starters 48 minutes a game.
Monday at Time Warner Cable Area, that was a problem in a 108-103 loss to the Charlotte Hornets.
Despite a whopping 34 points from Hornets guard Kemba Walker — he scored 21 of those points in the third quarter, going 5-for-5 on three-pointers — the Wolves likely would have won this game if Minnesota could have gotten something from their reserves.
But they really didn’t. The Wolves bench scored a season-low nine points. It wasn’t until there was 2:40 left in the third quarter that the bench scored, when Damjan Rudez hit two free throws.
