When Finch was hired mid-season back in February of 2021, after a disappointing campaign under Ryan Saunders, it was a shocking decision. NBA players and analysts from all over the league maligned the choice to pass over then-Assistant Coach David Vanterpool. In response, Finch has led the Timberwolves to three straight playoff berths, something that hadn’t happened in the past 20 years.
