Before Saturday's game, Memphis coach Dave Joerger warned his Grizzlies about how close the Timberwolves are to turning the corner.
That caution was prophetic for a night as Minnesota (14-31) gave up a 16-point lead but held on to beat the Grizzlies 106-101 at Target Center.
Two Ricky Rubio free throws gave Minnesota a 104-101 lead with 14 seconds remaining. Mike Conley missed a finger roll at the other end, and then Andrew Wiggins made two free throws to ice Minnesota's third win in the past 18 games.
The Grizzlies (25-20) tied the score 101-101 with a minute left, but had their four-game winning streak snapped.
