The fact that Mitchell has been dismissed is not all that surprising, especially if you have paid attention to some of the reports from national NBA journalists. There had been word that the organization was planning on moving on from Mitchell, but many of the locally-based reporters could not confirm those reports.
The more surprising piece is the speed with which this decision was not only made, but announced. The season had just ended with a resounding, 35-point victory over the Pelicans and Mitchell had barely finished his media availability before the team’s public relations team tweeted out the following:
