While the opening days of NBA free agency were slow for the Timberwolves, Tom Thibodeau and Scott Layden knocked out a couple of important moves between Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.
On Tuesday, the Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news that San Antonio’s Brian Pauga would be leaving the Spurs to join the Wolves as their new Player Personnel Director. Pauga was previously the Director of Scouting for the Spurs, as well as serving as the general manager of the Austin Toros, the D-League affiliate for San Antonio.
According to Pauga’s official bio on the Spurs’ website, he joined the Spurs as a basketball operations intern back in 2007 and worked his way up within the organization before landing his most-recent role as director of scouting in 2012.
