Timberwolves fire up a dud against Clippers

The last time the Timberwolves played the Los Angeles Clippers, they left Staples Center on February’s third night with an upset victory that just might have changed their season’s course.

This time, it’s probably a good thing Wolves interim head coach Sam Mitchell isn’t a reflective man, not after his team’s lifeless 99-79 loss to the Clippers Wednesday at Target Center.

One night after losing to the lowly Lakers in Los Angeles, the Wolves ended a 14-game losing streak to the Clippers with a five-point victory that spring-boarded them toward a nearly .500 record (11-13) in the next seven weeks until the Clippers came to Minnesota on Wednesday .
