Timberwolves coach Sam Mitchell stresses defense in first practice

Timberwolves interim coach Sam Mitchell didn't care that a national television audience on NBATV was watching his team's first training camp practice Tuesday.

Mitchell, who takes the reins while Flip Saunders deals with his health, yelled and even used what he called "constructive language" at times.

That's just his way of emphasizing a philosophy that has defense as the focal point.

"We know we've got to get better defensively," Mitchell said. "The only way you're going to get better is to work on it. That's something that Flip talked about. It's something we've been stressing."
