It wasn't easy. Down the stretch it was actually kind of ugly. But the Timberwolves won their fifth straight game Friday at San Antonio, 117-110, giving them their first road victory of the year in the first game of the inaugural NBA Cup tournament.
Karl-Anthony Towns scored 29 points with 12 rebounds. Anthony Edwards had 28 and seven. The first NBA matchup between towering French centers Rudy Gobert (11 and 10) and first-year sensation Victor Wembanyama (29 and nine) went to the rookie.
The Wolves (6-2) broke open a tie game late in the first half and led by 17 entering the fourth.
