Somebody asked Timberwolves interim head coach Sam Mitchell about the prospect of playing San Antonio on Tuesday without some of its “big guns,” namely resting stars Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili as well as hurting Tony Parker.
As he sometimes does, Mitchell bristled.
“I don’t understand how you say they’re their top guys,” Mitchell said of a trio once referred to quite frequently as the Spurs’ Big Three. “Last time I checked, Kawhi Leonard and LaMarcus Alridge, I think those are their two new top guys. If those two guys weren’t playing, I’d feel better.
