Rubio's last-second three-pointer allows Wolves to stun Thunder

OKLAHOMA CITY – Before Friday’s stunning 99-96 victory at Oklahoma City, Timberwolves interim head coach Sam Mitchell worried about his team getting off to a quick start against an opponent that features not just one, but two superstars.

He got both a fast beginning and a conclusive ending when Ricky Rubio’s three-point shot with two-tenths of a second remaining won the game.

Rubio’s three was the punctuation on a wild finish that saw the Wolves take a 96-94 lead on rookie Karl-Anthony Towns’ shot from the lane with 16 seconds and Thunder center Steven Adams answer with a putback basket that tied the game with 10.
