The Timberwolves played much of last season without Ricky Rubio starting at point guard, and they started the 2015-16 preseason the same way.
They also began the preseason losing at a similar rate to last season — a 1-3 start isn’t good, preseason or not. But Rubio is on schedule to make his return on Sunday in Memphis for a 5 p.m. matinee that will serve as the Wolves’ fifth (or, third-to-last) preseason contest.
Rubio will need to play some significant minutes alongside other starters, especially guys like Karl-Anthony Towns and Kevin Garnett with whom he had little (Garnett) to no (Towns) experience playing alongside ast season.
