The Timberwolves inaugural season of 1989-90 began with two road games, both losses in Seattle and then Portland. Those losses of course did not dampen the local enthusiasm for their new NBA team. They made their home debut on November 8th, 1989 before an announced crowd of over 35,000 in the Metrodome.
The opponent? The Chicago Bulls. The Bulls were a couple of seasons from their first title, but the team was coming together around the unprecedented talent of Michael Jordan. Jordan was the biggest draw in the league, but the fans would have come out for any opponent for the first NBA game in Minneapolis since the Lakers left for the West Coast in 1960.
