The Minnesota Timberwolves extended the qualifying offer to point guard Tyus Jones on Wednesday according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, which officially made him a free agent.
This means that the Wolves can now match any offer sheet that Jones might sign on the open market, unless they opt to withdraw it before any action takes place. The other option is that Jones could simply accept the offer, but that obviously wouldn’t make any sense for Tyus until he’s tested the market to see what’s out there.
