Although the NBA Draft only features 60 selections, the late second round picks usually lack excitement. The energy in the building has nearly vanished and the conversation shifts from what players can do in their rookie season to how they will develop in the G League or if they will even make the team at all.
However, despite Minnesota’s forgettable late round draft history, the Timberwolves made a stir selecting Big Ten Player of the Year, Keita Bates-Diop out of Ohio State. Since June, the buzz couldn’t be louder.
While there is a lot of excitement on the horizon, it is important that fans look at this from two perspectives.
