Lynx Select Alexis Jones from Baylor in First Round

The Minnesota Lynx selected guard Alexis Jones from Baylor with the 12th and final pick of the first round of tonight’s WNBA draft.

Jones began her college career at Duke, but transferred after tearing her ACL late in her sophomore season. She was a two-time All Big-12 first team selection at Baylor, and shot 41% from three over her two seasons with the Bears. During her senior year, she averaged 13-5-5, showing off some versatility.

It’s unlikely that Jones will be a significant part of the rotation early in her career given the veteran-laden roster the Lynx feature, but if her three-point shooting translates to the pro game it could be very useful for a team that lacks real threats from beyond the arc after Maya Moore.
