I didn’t understood why the Minnesota Timberwolves claimed Tyrone Wallace off waivers back on July 8, and I still don’t understand it now.
As a non-shooting, defensive specialist, Wallace plays a brand of basketball that is better suited for the early 21st century than today’s NBA.
As a rookie in 2017-18, Tyrone looked very promising. In his third NBA game, “Smoochie” (yes, that’s his real nickname) played 34 minutes and dropped 22 points, six boards, four assists, two steals and shot 7-11 from the floor with zero turnovers in a 125-106 victory over the 33-8 Golden State Warriors.
