Outside of consistently decent contributions from superstar center Karl-Anthony Towns and reliable veteran power forward Taj Gibson, it was evident that the Minnesota Timberwolves‘ frontcourt struggled mightily on defense and on the boards.
The rest of the team’s defense was not pretty, either. As a whole, Minnesota’s team defensive rating of 112.2 (points allowed per 100 possessions) ranked 24th out of 30 teams in the entire NBA. (All statistics in this article are courtesy of NBA.com’s Advanced Analytics.)
For reference, the Milwaukee Bucks led the NBA in defensive rating this past season with a mark of 104.
