Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio was confronted with quite the scare on Friday night against the Orlando Magic, crumpling to the floor in pain after what appeared to be a serious injury to his left ankle.
Per Bleacher Report's Ethan J. Skolnick, things looked bad when Rubio first went down:
Ricky Rubio is being carried off the floor. Ankle. Looked bad.

However, according to Jerry Zgoda of the Star Tribune, Rubio only suffered a severly painful sprain:
Ricky taped up and on crutches already, I don't think it's broken — Jerry Zgoda (@JerryZgoda) November 8, 2014
Ricky sprained left ankle, will be evaluated tomorrow
— Jerry Zgoda (@JerryZgoda) November 8, 2014
However, Zgoda cautions against being too optimistic at this early juncture:
Wolves calling it a sprain doesn't necessarily mean it's not a more serious injury. THey'll know more tomorrow

Chat Sports will have more on Rubio's injury as additional information is made available to the press.
