Cretin-Derham Hall senior goalie Emma May remembers joking with her brother, Eli, while she was growing up in Eagan. One day, she told him, she would play hockey at the University of Minnesota.
The two made a deal that if she ever did, Eli would pay her $20. He recently paid up.
"In pennies," May said. "He was mad."
May is one of a handful of past and present east metro standouts who highlight what Gophers coach Brad Frost called "by far" the biggest recruiting class in his eight seasons.
The Gophers announced six new signees Friday, drawing Minnesota's 2015 class to a total of nine.
