Michigan players Michael Downing and Niko Porikos were suspended by the Big Ten for head shots during a 3-2 loss to Minnesota on Saturday in Ann Arbor, the conference announced Monday.
Downing was suspended for two games for an incident that occurred near the 12:12 mark of the second period. He received a major penalty for contact to the head and a game misconduct, resulting in his immediate ejection.
Porikos was suspended for one game for an incident that occurred near the 3:20 mark of the third period. He received a minor penalty for indirect contact to the head with his elbow.
