Wild: Former Gopher Mike Reilly to sign two-year deal

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- The Minnesota Wild are the winners of the Mike Reilly sweepstakes.

Reilly, a standout defenseman at the University of Minnesota the past three years, was deciding between around a dozen NHL teams after he decommited from the U in May and became a free agent June 16.

He won't be able to sign with the Wild until July 1, when he will get what is expected to be a two-year, $1.85 million deal.

Reilly wasn't immediately available for comment, but multiple sources close to the situation confirmed the news.

The Chanhassen native was drafted in 2011 by the Columbus Blue Jackets, but he opted against signing with the Blue Jackets two weeks ago, becoming an unrestricted free agent.
