He'd been a Viking for just few hours and logged about 20 minutes in with the playbook, but Brock Vereen said he "couldn't be happier" to be in Winter Park Thursday morning.
"It hasn't really hit me yet," said the former Gophers safety, freshly cut by the Bears and then snapped up onto the Vikings practice squad. "Obviously, getting thrown into a new situation, this helps being comfortable with the area, with some of the guys on the team."
A fourth-round pick by Chicago in 2014, Vereen didn't expect a change of scenery nearly so soon. "The first team you end up on, you always assume you're going to be there for your whole career," he said.
