University of Minnesota president Eric Kaler said Friday he regrets language he used to characterize the behavior of former athletics director Norwood Teague, who resigned last week under pressure of a sexual harassment investigation.
During a senior retreat last month, Teague groped two high-ranking members of the president's leadership team and sent lewd text messages to one of them.
At a news conference Aug. 7 to announce that he had accepted Teague's resignation, Kaler was asked whether Teague's behavior would tarnish the athletics department's image.
"I view this as the action of one man who was over served and a series of bad events happened," Kaler said.
