University of Minnesota President Eric Kaler responded in a radio interview Tuesday to critics who claim he has not been fully accountable for hiring disgraced athletics director Norwood Teague.
"I did make the hire for Norwood Teague," Kaler told WCCO's Chad Hartman. "I take full responsibility for doing that. That's my job."
Teague resigned Aug. 7 after being investigated for sexually harassing two university employees. He was hired in July 2012 after Parker Executive Search helped identify him as a top candidate.
Kaler and members of the U's search committee expressed disappointment in the Parker search, which failed to dig up a gender discrimination complaint against him at Virginia Commonwealth, his former school.
