The University of Minnesota's $166 million Athletes Village won final approval Friday from the school's Board of Regents.
The regents' facilities committee Thursday approved the schematic design and budget amendment for the football and basketball practice and academic complex. The full board passed it unanimously Friday.
The U plans to break ground on the 320,000-square-foot project in November. Completion is scheduled in January 2018.
Athletes Village's three buildings will be built next to existing football practice facilities on the current site of the track. It features an indoor football practice field, a weight room and a men's and women's basketball complex.
