Penn State finally got a win under its belt, in its sixth try this season, and dit it with a flourish. The Nittany Lions scored five goals in the second period to overtake the Wolverines en route to a 9-5 win.
"We finished, the puck went in the net. But I thought we did a lot of things to just win the puck territorially that was important," Penn State coach Guy Gadowsky said.
"In this league, there's no win that doesn't feel great — but because it's our first one, with a lot of new guys, and especially how it was done — we came out with much more a sense of urgency and intensity that we need to play well, and to see that for more of a sustained time was nice to see.
