Three University of Minnesota pitchers -- Lance Thonvold, Ben Meyer and Dalton Sawyer -- were selected Wednesday in the Major League Baseball draft.
The Gophers have had at least one player drafted in each of the past 28 years and at least one pitcher taken in each of the past 13. Ninety-three Gophers have been selected during coach John Anderson's tenure.
Thonvold, a redshirt junior from Eden Prairie, was taken by the Seattle Mariners in the 24th round (725th overall). The right-hander had a 7.71 earned-run average in 17 relief appearances last season.
Meyer, a graduating senior and Totino-Grace graduate, was chosen in the 29th round (866th) by the Miami Marlins.
