Suspended Minnesota Gophers player reported theft of phone to police

MINNEAPOLIS -- Police are investigating a reported theft of suspended Minnesota freshman Kevin Dorsey's cellphone at the Mall of America last week.

City of Bloomington Deputy Police Chief Mike Hartley confirmed Wednesday that Dorsey filed a report Sunday, saying his phone was stolen four days earlier from a shoe store at the megamall.

Dorsey and teammates Nate Mason and Dupree McBrayer were benched Tuesday for the remainder of the season. The punishment stemmed from a sexually explicit video that appeared Friday on Dorsey's social media accounts, two days after the phone was allegedly stolen and two days before he reported it to police.
