Cole Caufield has broken out.
In the absence of fellow sophomore phenom Dylan Holloway, who is at Team Canada's World Junior camp, Caufield has stepped up. And after four games of being pesky, but not piling up points, Caufield broke through with four goals in this week's sweep of Penn State, including Tuesday's hat trick in a 7-3 win.
Caufield said he felt good, despite the early-season drought.
“Four games isn’t the longest,” Caufield told reporters, via Zoom, after the game. “I was getting my chances so I wasn’t too frustrated.
