COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The NCHC issued a statement today, acknowledging that a penalty, or penalties, should have been called on the play leading up to Minnesota's game-winning overtime goal against St. Cloud State on Saturday.
On the play, Minnesota forward Blake McLaughlin tugged the jersey of St. Cloud defender Nick Perbix, bringing him down. That allowed Minnesota to take the puck, and set up the winning goal by Sammy Walker.
St. Cloud coach Brett Larson said he was "embarassed" that the play ruined an otherwise good game. Minnesota coach Bob Motzko said he thought there should also have been an embellishment penalty on the play.
