The Minnesota Gophers were awarded the #1 seed in the Northeast Regional in Manchester, New Hampshire Sunday morning. The Gophers will play Notre Dame in a first round game Saturday at 2:30 PM and the winner will advance to play the winner of UMass-Lowell and Cornell on Sunday for a trip to the NCAA Frozen Four.
The Gophers thought they had let their chance at a #1 seed slip away Friday night after losing in double overtime to Penn State in the Big Ten Tournament semifinal. However the other teams competing for the last #1 seed could not get the job done.
