CHN Staff Report
It certainly hasn't been easy all season for Minnesota, and it wasn't this weekend either. But in the end, Minnesota won its fifth straight regular-season championship, including all three in the Big Ten's history.
Friday's loss at home to Wisconsin put the Gophers in a must-win situation Saturday because Michigan had swept Penn State.
The game was tight Saturday, 1-1, until Minnesota broke out with three goals in the third period to win and take home the title. Hudson Fasching scored the game winner 4:33 into the final period on a power play, his seventh game-winning goal of the season.
