After dominating opposing teams in this shortened spring season, Minnesota Golden Gophers senior opposite hitter Stephanie Samedy was named the Big Ten Player of the Year on Thursday. She joins an additional pair of Gophers in Regan Pittman and Taylor Landfair on being named First Team All-Big Ten.
Samedy made the most of her weird senior season. She led the Big Ten averaging 4.11 kills per set and 4.63 points per set. She led the Gophers in kills with 259, and hit .278 in 668 attempts. In 17 matches this year she recorded 20-plus kills in four of them, which considering most of Minnesota’s wins came 3-0 is an impressive feat.
