Several members of both the men’s and women’s Minnesota Golden Gophers track and field team are in Sacramento, California this weekend for the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds. Sixteen members of the men’s team will compete in ten different events while nineteen members of the women’s team will compete in fourteen different events. The athletes will achieve to be one of the top-12 finishers in their various events which will get them a trip to the NCAA Track and Field Championship Finals in Eugene, Oregon in two weeks.

The meet got underway on Thursday with Spagnola advancing to the quarterfinals of the 400-meter hurdles and Egwim and Markland advancing to the quarterfinals of the 400 meters for the Gopher women.
