Minnesota State Am golf: Gophers' Jon DuToit rallies to title

DULUTH, Minn. -- The game of golf has at times troubled Chaska's Jon DuToit since he won the Minnesota State Open in 2013, and after walking off the 18th green Wednesday afternoon at Northland Country Club, he thought golf's cruel antics might continue.

Instead, he received a pleasant surprise.

"I was coming off the green and I looked at my teammate and said, 'I don't know if that will be enough,' " said DuToit, who will be a senior on the University of Minnesota men's golf team this fall. "He said, 'You have a one-shot lead.' "

DuToit shot a final-round 3-under-par 68 to come from five strokes back to win the 112th Minnesota Golf Association Amateur Championship at Northland Country Club, beating Ben Welle of Moorhead by one stroke.
