The Minnesota Golden Gophers softball team has struggled against top ranked opponents so far this season. Minnesota’s best win so far in 2018 had been a win over the then #23 Kentucky Wildcats. However, that all was blown out of the water Wednesday night when the Gophers upset the #9 Arizona Wildcats on their own field in Tucson, Arizona 1-0 in eight innings. The win moves the Gophers to 15-10 on the season while Arizona drops to 21-3.
It was a classic pitching duel between the two teams. Sophomore ace Amber Fiser was in the circle for the Gophers and was on fire.
