The Minnesota Golden Gophers softball team will kick off their 2019 season Friday in Orlando, Florida with a quartet of non-conference games. Minnesota enters the 2019 season ranked for the fifth consecutive season. They are #21 in the USA Today/ NFCA poll and #23 in the ESPN/USA Softball poll. The Gophers will be trying to continue the pattern of prolonged success that has led to six consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament and three consecutive Big Ten Tournament Championships. Minnesota has finished in either first or second in the Big Ten regular season the last four seasons and is once again expected to finish near the top of the standings.
