The Minnesota Golden Gophers women’s soccer team ran through three higher seeds without giving up a single goal and defeated Penn State on penalty kicks to win the Big Tern Tournament on Sunday. It’s the Gophers second Big Ten Tournament win in three seasons, but this one was much different than 2016.
In 2016 the Gophers won the Big Ten regular season title and were the #1 seed in the Big Ten tournament. In 2018, the Gophers finished seventh in the conference and would need to get past three higher seeded teams.
