A 6-2 loss Thursday was a daunting way to begin a series in Minneapolis against Michigan with first place on the line. After all, Minnesota has taken a lot of grief this year for its ups and downs, and getting smoked by the Wolverines on home ice had many figuring Michigan had finally overtaken the Gophers for good.

But not so fast. Coming out with an intensity it hasn't always had this season, Minnesota defeated Michigan, 3-2, on Hudson Fasching's goal in overtime, catapulting the Gophers back into first place in the Big Ten by one point, with four regular-season games remaining.
