ESPN’s Pete Thamel is reporting that Minnesota tight ends coach Andrew Sowder is leaving to join Coaches Rep, a Texas-based firm that provides representation for collegiate coaches and administrators across the country. He will serve as the agency’s Director of Coaching.
Sowder spent one season with the Gophers. Prior to being hired by P.J. Fleck last offseason, he served as the offensive coordinator for Kent State.
His brief time in the Twin Cities will not be remembered well. The tight end position as a whole took a significant step back under Sowder’s watch this season, particularly NFL prospect Brevyn Spann-Ford.
